Montgomery County runs along the Mohawk River and the Thruway, which makes it one of the easier places in our area to live rurally and still commute. Amsterdam is the largest market, and the string of villages west of it stays genuinely affordable.

Agriculture is still the backbone of the county, and dairy and crop ground trades regularly here. Farm buyers look at soil type, tile drainage, barn condition, and agricultural district enrollment, and those are the things we document up front.
Village housing in Fort Plain, Canajoharie, and St. Johnsville is old, often solid, and priced accordingly. Flood exposure along the Mohawk is worth checking on anything close to the river.
